Fixed devices are devices that once installed are fixed and the only way of removing the device is to isolate the complete switchboard, therefore isolating the live side and dead side of the breaker respectfully. Plugin / Drawout devices are a solution to this isolation, they differ due to that specific device having a unit or a chassis that the MCCB or ACB device plugs or racks into. This enables the breaker to be removed from the switchboard and replaced without interrupting any other supply, apart from the particular breakers that are being replaced, therefore able to undertake removal and replacement safely while the switchboard is live.

 

How do I specify what I want?

 

• Fixed Pattern Device - All ACB’s shall be fixed pattern. All MCCB’s of all frame sizes shall be fixed pattern where fitted.

 

• Plugin Base/Withdrawable/Drawout - All ACB’s shall be withdrawable. All MCCB’s of a frame size that allows withdrawable

types shall be withdrawable. All MCCB’s unavailable as withdrawable shall be plug-in type where fitted.
