Regional Electrical Company Current Transformer Chambers
Introduction
REC CT Chambers are quite often requested to be placed within the incoming LV Switchgear. This is quite common depending upon current rating and typically comes down to two organisations designs,
1) SSE
2) UKPN
It is important to ensure that the correct design is detailed to the manufacturer and they can produce a solution that the REC are happy with, it is worth nothing that they can be very particular on this issue.

Explanation
REC CT Chambers are essentially where the REC place their Current Transformers (CT's) for their billing meter to monitor the KW used, typically from a building/network. They are very particular to what they house their CT's within and therefore this is completed under strict detail, therefore it's always worth asking for a drawing and issuing this to the panel manufacturer to ensure compliance.
The REC will install their Current Transformers within the chamber and these are wired out to a billing meter, commonly fitted elsewhere. This chamber is then sealed to ensure that no one can tamper with the CT's.
That is pretty much it apart from generally a terminal block and a three phase supply but again this is down to particular REC's and must be confirmed.
As you can see from the picture above, its no easy construction, stressing the need to ensure the REC will accept it.
